This three day workshop will include lecture, interactive discussion, and small group activities developed to give participants practice with Structured TEACCHing methods; discussion and application of approaches to behavior management; a panel of parents discussing their experiences; demonstration of widely-available technology, and a panel of adults discussing their perspectives on life with autism spectrum disorder.


Participants will learn:  

  • How autism spectrum disorder (ASD) affects the learning style and behavior of students 
  • How to develop educational strategies and visual supports for students with ASD with or without intellectual disabilities
  • How to use Structured TEACCHing in educational settings from preschool through high school
  • How to avoid, analyze, and solve behavior problems in students with ASD
  • Uses of modern technology for supporting learning and behavior
  • Perspectives from adults with ASD and from parents of children with ASD

Target Audience:

Special education teachers, regular education teachers, assistant teachers, speech/language and occupational therapists, and other professionals working with students with autism spectrum disorder
