Kathy Hearsey, Assistant Director of Training, TEACCH Autism Program will be a keynote presenter at the Power of Play conference hosted by the National Inclusion Project at Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh, NC on April 9 and 10, 2014.

She will speak on “Structuring Play for Children with ASD and Other Developmental Disabilities: Strategies to help the child have fun and increase their social inclusion with peers.”

The Power of Play conference will also include keynotes by Tim Harris and Dwayne Ballen. Tim is a young man with Down’s syndrome who has never let his disability hold him back from following his dreams. He owns and operates his own restaurant in Albuquerque. Dwayne is a sports newscaster from North Carolina who wrote a book about his son, Julian, who has autism. Dwayne also maintains a regular blog as he learns about parenting, autism, and life with Julian.

Break-out sessions will include presentations on preventing bullying, adaptive technology, maximizing classroom effectiveness, working with parents, and the research base for inclusion.
